Helping You With Your Enquiry

If you have a with-profits plan you may well struggle to know what you have got and what you should do in the future.

Our site is aimed to give you a very broad understanding of the with-profits market, highlighting some of the issues that surround with-profits plans and some of the key factors you may have to take into account in deciding what you should do in the future.

But as the site will hopefully explain the with-profits market is diverse and varied with many different policies and plan types, from a huge array of companies many of who don’t exist anymore or have merged or been taken over.

Whilst the name of the site may imply that it is our aim to suggest that all people in with-profits plans or policies should get out of them, this is not actually the case.

Our view is that many people who have with-profits plans should get out. It is estimated that £400 billion in the UK is within such plans. This is clearly ridiculous as with-profits have in many examples delivered appalling returns. There is more money in these types of plans than should be in them! We don’t know for sure how much is miss-invested but it is a high proportion and our argument is that many, many people who have with-profits plans don’t understand what they have got and if they did they would want to get out.

The aim of the site is twofold: firstly, to provide useful information; secondly, to provide help to those who want more personalised assistance. Our enquiry centre is the area where you can ask for assistance with your with-profits plan.

Examples of enquiries you may make:

(This is not an exhaustive list!!)
  1. “I need help finding out the value of my with-profits plan”
  2. “I have a with-profit pension fund and I am 48 years old, still 17 years from retirement, should I keep it?”
  3. “There are two values quoted for my plan: the face value and the surrender value, what is the difference?”
  4. “I know I have guarantees on my plan, but I don’t understand what they are and what they mean?”
  5. “I have a plan with XYZ company and I don’t know who looks after them anymore”
  6. “I have an endowment in joint names and am getting divorced, what happens to our policy?”
  7. “I get an income from my with-profit bond of 5% per year but the annual return is now 2% per year, what should I do?”
  8. “I want an audit of my with-profit plan, so I can understand every aspect of its value both now and in the future”
  9. “I have life cover on my plan but I don’t need this: what should I do?”
  10. “What is the tax position on my with-profit policies?”
  11. “My with-profits endowment is falling short of its target by 50%: what do I do?”
