With-Profits Guarantees - How Do I Found Out If I Have A Guarantee?

  
Your plan will have terms and conditions attached. In these terms and conditions there may be sections on guarantees. These terms are normally (in virtually every case) binding, so the company you are with will probably be bound by the wording.

You could refer to your terms and conditions. Albeit these are not always available or sometimes they are difficult to read/understand.

We do not recommend that you contact the Insurance Company you are with by telephone! Our experience is that companies are not always reliable and often do not have the information themselves. They may have contradictory sections in different plan types and they may not know for sure if you do or do not have a guarantee.

Secondly the companies normally cannot give you advice, so they may be able to answer a question but they cannot advise or guide you.
Conversely we do strongly recommend that you use our audit service. This allows you to request an audit and one of our registered advisers will be able to find out for you if you have a guarantee. This is a regulated process, once the audit is passed to the regulated adviser they will be able to get the information and to interpret it and to advise you what you should do – or, at least, outline all your options.

They can complete the audit and provide absolute certainty with respect to your guarantee position and to highlight how it works and how (and when) you can take up the guarantee, if one or more exists within your plan(s).
